The economy sucks.... The price we have to pay for a gallon of gas is insane. Is it going to get any better? Probably not in our lifetime. So we all have to make even bigger sacrifices . What's first? Horse feed or hay? Should we eliminate our vet or our farrier. Wormers or bedding ? We can't improve their quality of life, if we take away their quality of care. Please help .

We have a group of kids coming next week to help out. One of their scheduled jobs was to put berm dust in the stalls and level them out for winter. But, we still don't have the berm dust for the barns yet. Berm dust ( screenings) is $12.65 a ton. A donation of $20.00 will buy a ton, plus give us a few bucks to have it hauled in. Can you help? We'll appreciate it.

We haul water from May to January. Our truck is always on the road. The price of gas, the cost of the water, and taking time away from other important tasks.... It's time for a change. For those of you who just turn on a tap, you can't comprehend being without water. We have a chance to get water here, but we need your support. Please donate to our water project.

The run-in shed we built in 2009 in the blind-horse pasture is great. It is a blessing for the horses. They love it and so do we. But, we now have a need for an additional run-in shed in the main pasture. With the lumber that Brent Redfern donated , Johnny D is going to build the additional run-in shelter that the horses can use to get out of the weather. But we still need donations of plywood, metal roofing, gutters, any type of hardware, quick-crete, and more lumber. Thank you Brent and thank you Johnny D! This is a great start, and we hope to be ready to start building very soon!

Since the weather is getting better, it's time to tackle all those jobs we are way behind on. Stall repair is going to be one of the most time consuming and costly. We need tons of berm dust . We're looking at over $700 plus the cost of hauling. I know money's tight for everyone , but if you can spare a few dollars to help us get the stalls done, we and the horses will appreciate it.

We need donations of yard sale items for the WHINNY yard sale Saturday, August 6th at the Pottery Museum off St. Rt. 93. Contact us on Facebook or call 221-9372. Anyone is welcome to set up with us.

Volunteer:
It is hard work running any rescue. The list of chores are endless but with the help of good volunteers no one has to suffer the burden of doing it all by themselves. No job is too small or any less important than another. They all have to be done. Even if you volunteer one hour a day, that's an hour spent doing something worthwhile for a horse in need. Make one day out of the week a family project day and volunteer the whole family to help clean stalls, wash water buckets or groom horses. Contact WHINNY Horse Rescue and schedule a time. mary@whinnyhorserescue.org

Donate:
If sponsoring and/or volunteering are not something you want to participate in , you can still help our horses by donating cash to their care or donating products toward their care. New or used product donations are always welcome. We "recycle" your no longer used barn supplies by putting them to good use in our barn. We never have enough halters, lead ropes, buckets, and feed pans. Do you have any unused garden hose? We're always replacing ours. What about salt brick holders or old wheelbarrows & feed carts standing around or stored somewhere that we could put to good use. That old saying, " One man's junk is another man's treasure." Well it's true! We treasure every product donation .

Here's a short list of items that we are always seeking: Lawn equipment, building materials, tools, equine supplies of any kind, industrial fans, box fans (for the horse's stalls in this hot weather), and garden hose.

If you would like to sponsor a horse by donating $25.00/month for their care, please click the button below. You will be redirected to Paypal where you will be able to submit information for the sponsorship. Please specify, in the Description section of the first page, which horse you would like to sponsor. If you do not add the name of the horse you would like to sponsor, we will choose a horse for you.
